Wood Plastic Composite is produced from recycled wood and plastic. The production process makes WPC flooring very similar to wood flooring, but the methods of maintenance, care and cleaning are different. WPC flooring requires very little maintenance compared to the maintenance needs of wood flooring. Here are some important points to help you clean and maintain your WPC flooring effectively

Dust

Regardless of the type of flooring you choose to install, occasional surface dust cannot be avoided. We recommend cleaning the surface with a soft brush and soapy water toavoid the accumulation of surface dust. While excessive surface cleaning is not necessary, regular cleaning will prevent the accumulation of bird droppings, pollen and other potential dust.

A gentle treatment is best for your deck. If you must use a pressure washer, make sure you use a household pressure washer, set it to the lowest setting and keep it at least 25 cm away from the surface. A garden hose is ideal for regular cleaning. Using the right composite cleaner is critical to the longevity of your deck. When purchasing a composite cleaner, check the logo carefully. Be sure not to use a chlorine bleached cleaner. If you see the word sodium hypochlorite on the logo, it means that the cleaner is a chlorine bleach cleaner.

On the other hand, sodium percarbonate cleaners are recommended because when mixed with water they produce a characteristic foam that dissolves and completely removes organic matter from the surface. You only need to mix the cleaner and water on the surface of the deck, keep it for 15 minutes to enable it to remove the stain, and then use the deck brush to clean the deck in a circular pattern while it is still wet. After cleaning, make sure to rinse the entire area thoroughly with water.

To ensure proper cleaning, divide the deck into smaller areas. This will allow you to keep each area wet as you clean it. If you let it dry while the cleaner and water are still present, organic matter may re-adhere. Also make sure that the crevices between the panels are cleaned to remove any dirt hidden in them. After cleaning is complete, wait a few hours before putting the furniture back in place. Simple maintenance in stages can keep your deck looking great for years - even forever.

Stains

Wood composite decking is generally more susceptible to stains than WPC decking. If there are any stain spots on your deck, it's best to clean them up as soon as possible. But if the stain has been there for a while, clean it off first with a brush and soapy water.

If that doesn't work, then the stain is probably an oil stain and you can use a grease remover to clean it up. If you encounter any stubborn stains, a commercial WPC deck cleaner may be your best bet. Manufacturers will often recommend cleaners based on the characteristics of your deck.
